Overview

The Chamber represents member business interests at all levels of government. As your partner, the Chamber works to minimize the legislative and regulatory burden on your company, and foster a sound economic environment in our county and state. We speak as a unified voice for the business community to elected and appointed officials. To ensure business friendly public policy, the Chamber will focus on:

    •  Knowledge - we track proposals at all levels of government, with an eye on the potential impact of these proposals on our members.

    •  Advocacy - we carry the message to our elected officials, maintaining a daily presence in Dover during the legislative session and at County Council meetings.

    •  Protecting the interests of our members - the Chamber has worked with member companies to seek legislative action concerning issues directly impacting their business.

    •  Access to government - Policy Makers’ breakfasts and luncheons feature our highest ranking elected officials, providing members with direct access to our political decision makers.

Legislative policy analysis (LPA)

The Chamber closely monitors the Federal, State and Local Government for policy and legislative proposals that can impact your business. To keep our members informed, the Chamber develops a one page document, Legislative Policy Analysis (LPA), to provide a comprehensive overview of the issue and outline the Chamber’s current position on the particular issue. The Government Affairs Committee and the Board of Directors participate in the development of each LPA. You can find a list of existing LPAs here

Policy Makers, Movers & shakers events

To provide our members the opportunity to meet and engage in dialogue about the issues that matter to them, the Chamber hosts a series of events featuring key elected officials from all levels of government. Speakers for this series include: Governor John Carney, Senator Tom Carper, Senator Chris Coons, Congressman Lisa Rochester, Mayor Mike Purzycki, County Executive Matt Meyer, members of the Delaware Congressional Delegation, Governor Markell and panel discussions featuring senior state legislators and committee chairs.

The next Policy, Makers, Movers & Shakers event will feature a Legislative Panel on September 26th at Hilton Wilmington/Christiana. Click here to register
